This course explores health, illness, and healthcare from a sociological perspective. It considers the relationship between individuals’ health and their cultural and structural realities, including the social determinants of health and social construction of illness. In addition, it examines healthcare professions from a sociological perspective and critically analyzes the structure, functions, and outcomes of the U.S. healthcare system.
